Making Reflective Equlibrium Precise: A Formal Model

چکیده
Reflective equilibrium (RE) is often regarded as a powerful method in ethics, logic, and even philosophy general. Despite this popularity, characterizations of the have been fairly vague unspecific so far. It thus may be doubted whether RE more than jumble appealing but ultimately sketchy ideas that cannot spelled out consistently. In paper, we dispel such doubts by devising formal model RE. The contains components agent’s commitments theory tries to systematize commitments. yields precise picture how are adjusted each other. differentiates between target state dynamic equilibration process. First solutions model, obtained computer simulation, show allows for consistent specification model’s implications plausible view expectations on particular, mutual adjustment can improve one’s commitments, proponents suggested. We argue our fruitful not only because it points issues need dealt with better understanding RE, also provides means address these issues.

Formal Specification of Reflective Agents
Many autonomous agents exhibit reflective behaviour: they not only reason about their own behaviour, but also about other agents' behaviour. To model and formally specify such behaviour requires a framework which provides constructs designed for this purpose. Java has become popular as a programming language for the Internet because of its ability to simplify the development of flexible, portable applications with graphical user interfaces. Using Java, users can write a program once and run it on any platform. However, Java lacks a good mechanism to support integration of system software, which is required by new applications such as mobile computin...
متن کاملPrecise UML Semantics Through Formal Metamodeling
We present an object-oriented metamodeling methodology based on a formal metalanguage suited for the deenition of the semantics of the UML but also for the deenition of other languages. This methodology allows for the description of all relevant aspects of the entities of the metamodel. We are particularly interested in the description of dynamic semantics, because it has been neglected in comm...
